2 Young Children, Father Killed In Fiery Crash By Suspected Intoxicated Driver

On November 27, 2020, three people were killed in a fiery car crash located in San Bernardino. The victims included Tavea Tarlton and his two young children. The Southland Family met their fate in the form of Brandon Jaquez-Perez, a 23-year-old Bloomington resident. Jaquez-Perez has been arrested for intoxicated vehicular manslaughter, according to a Los Angeles injury lawyer.

The accident took place at the intersection of University Parkway and Kendall. Tarlton was reportedly driving a Toyota Camry with his four young children aboard. According to a car accident lawyer, Jaquez-Perez ran a red light and smashed right into Tarlton’s Toyota Camry. This caused Tarlton’s car to ignite into flames.

According to a knowledgeable car wreck lawyer Los Angeles, Tarlton was pronounced dead at the scene. His two youngest children, 2-year-old Farrow and 4-year-old Elizah, were pronounced dead at the hospital. Tarlton’s two older children survived the accident with severe injuries. These are 5-year-old Khamyil and 8-year-old Dallas. Tarlton’s mother, Porsha Bell, says that she is considering joining MADD as she grieves for the loss of her family.

What Is MADD?

Mothers Against Drunk Driving, also known commonly as MADD, is an organization that speaks out about the dangers of drunk driving. MADD was started back in 1980 and has continued to be extremely active all across the country. As any car injury attorney can reveal, MADD is working diligently to raise awareness about the statistics of drunk driving.

In their efforts, the MADD organization works with legislative officials to create proactive laws regarding driving under the influence. In addition, the organization works to support those who have been a victim of drunk or drugged driving. You should talk to your Los Angeles injury lawyer to learn more about MADD and how they’re affecting your local legislation.

The Statistics About Drunk Driving

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, or NHTSA for short, gathers a number of statistics each year about drunk driving incidents. Their statistics reveal that over 10,000 people die every single year as the result of drunk driving accidents. That’s about 30 people every single day.

Those who undertake this risky driving behavior can alter the life of others in their community in an instant. As the Tarlton Family has found out, drunk driving can take many with just one incident. Ask any car accident lawyer about drunk driving cases, and they’ll be sure to share with you multiple cases that they’ve been involved in.

Alcohol is a unique substance that can impair a person’s ability to safely maneuver a vehicle on the roadway. It impairs the brain’s ability to reason and think. It also slows down a person’s muscle coordination. Any car wreck lawyer Los Angeles will tell you that a person is considered drunk if they are at a BAC of .08 or higher. However, over 1,800 deaths have occurred because of drivers who were in between .01 and .07 BAC. That proves that one drink is too many to get behind the wheel, according to any good car injury attorney.
